Connect and publish to Facebook

Learn how to connect your Page and understand publishing for Facebook through HeyOrca.

⚠️ Due to Meta's API requirements, in order to publish directly to Facebook through HeyOrca, you must:

  • have Full control (Admin access) on the Facebook Page.

Even if you have Business Portfolio access or permissions in Meta Business Suite, the Page won’t connect without Page-level Full control. You can verify your access permissions by following the steps on Facebook’s Help Centre.

Connect your Facebook account

Once you've confirmed you have the correct permissions, you can set up your Facebook account in HeyOrca.

  1. From your workspace, go to Settings.

  2. From the Integrations tab, click Add account.

  3. Find the Facebook tile from the Integration options and click Connect

  4. Click Continue from the connection page, then follow the authorization prompts from Meta.

  5. Once your account is successfully connected, go back to your workspace Settings > Integrations to check notification settings.

You'll have the option to select direct or notification publishing as your desired publishing method. You can also choose the user who will be the notification receiver and the notification type using this menu.

Best Practices for publishing on Facebook in HeyOrca

  • Design for mobile-first viewing whenever possible and use 4:5 portrait images for feed posts to maximize screen space on mobile

  • Facebook displays multiple images in a collage-style grid in the feed and may crop images into square thumbnails to fit the layout. Keep important visuals centred so they remain visible across different preview arrangements.

  • Allow up to 48 hours for analytics and reporting data to fully populate after publishing

Limitations

Stories

Due to Meta’s API limitations, Facebook Stories cannot currently be directly published through HeyOrca.

If you’d still like to plan Facebook Story content in HeyOrca, you can use Notification Publishing workflows to prepare your content and receive a reminder to publish manually through the Facebook app.

Multi-Video Reels

At the moment, Facebook Reels published through HeyOrca can only contain one video file per Reel.

This means:

  • You cannot upload multiple video clips to create a stitched Reel

  • You cannot combine photos and videos into a Reel during publishing

  • Video editing features available natively in Facebook may not be available through HeyOrca

If you’d like to use multiple clips, you’ll need to use the notification publishing feature.

Editing Features

Editing features available for images and Reels in Facebook are not available to the same extent in HeyOrca. Some photo editing tools are available in HeyOrca but not through the Meta API.

FAQ: Facebook

Why can’t I connect my Facebook Page?

In most cases, this happens because you do not have Full control permissions on the Facebook Page itself.

Having access in Meta Business Suite or a Business Portfolio is not enough. Meta requires Page-level Full control in order to connect and publish through third-party tools like HeyOrca.

I have access in Meta Business Suite. Why can’t I connect?

Meta separates Business Portfolio permissions from Facebook Page permissions.

Even if you can manage the Page in Meta Business Suite, you still need Full control directly on the Facebook Page to connect it in HeyOrca.

How do I check if I have the correct Facebook permissions to connect/reauthorize the connection?

You can verify your Facebook Page access directly in Facebook’s Page settings.

Look for:

  • Full control access

  • Facebook Page Admin permissions

  • Permission to create content and manage the Page

Why does my Facebook post look cropped after publishing?

Facebook automatically adjusts media previews depending on placement, device, and the number of uploaded images.

For posts with multiple images, Facebook may display your content in a collage-style grid and crop images into square thumbnails in the feed preview.

Why does my Facebook post look different than the HeyOrca preview?

Facebook may apply additional cropping, compression, or layout adjustments after publishing.

This is especially common for:

  • Multi-image posts

  • Vertical media

  • Low-resolution uploads

  • Unsupported aspect ratios

Why are my Facebook analytics missing or delayed?

Meta’s reporting APIs can take up to 48 hours to fully process and return analytics data after publishing.

Why did my Facebook post fail to publish?

Common causes include:

  • Missing Facebook Page permissions

  • Expired account authorization

  • Unsupported media dimensions

  • Media processing failures from Meta

  • Temporary API outages or rate limits from Meta

Check the Audit Trail for the full error code explaining the publishing failure. If you need additional support, reach out to the Customer Care team.

Can I publish Facebook Stories through HeyOrca?

Due to Meta’s API limitations, Facebook Stories cannot currently be directly published through HeyOrca. You can still plan Story content using Notification Publishing workflows.
