With the Canva integration, you can create new graphics, edit existing designs, and access your Canva content without leaving HeyOrca. Once your design is ready, you can export it directly into your post or save it to your Media Library for later use.
Connect your Canva account
Each team member can connect their Canva account and use it across all calendars in your team’s HeyOrca account.
1. Go to your account Settings > Profile, then select the Integrations tab.
2. Select Connect Canva and follow the on screen steps to connect your account.
If you want to remove the connected account, click the Disconnect Canva button to delete it.
Create and export designs directly in posts
1. In the post edit bar, click the Add Media button, then click the Open Canva button to open the integration.
2. Select the project dimensions from the provided in the dropdown list.
3. Canva will open in a new tab with a blank design sized to match your selected post aspect ratio. You can use Canva’s native tools, access your Brand Kit and folders, or click Projects to import assets from an existing design.
4. When you’re ready to export your design, select Return to HeyOrca. Back in HeyOrca, you’ll be prompted to choose your post file type. Select Export to HeyOrca to add the media to your post.
👀 FYI: Projects created using the Canva integration in HeyOrca will be saved in your Media Library in HeyOrca, not in your Canva design library. You can make edits to these designs from your Media Library.
Create and export designs in your Media Library
The Canva integration can be directly accessed from the Media Library. This is a great way to create content to store for later use without adding it to a post.
Navigate to your Media Library by clicking on the Library option from your left-side menu.
From your Media Library, click the Open Canva button on the top right of the window.
Canva will open in a new tab with a blank design sized to match your selected post aspect ratio. You can use Canva’s native tools, access your Brand Kit and folders, or click Projects to import assets from an existing design.
When you’re ready to export your design, select Return to HeyOrca.
Back in HeyOrca, you’ll be prompted to choose your post file type. Select Export to HeyOrca to add the media to your post.
Edit exported designs
Since designs created using the Canva integration are stored in HeyOrca and not in your Canva library, any exported designs can be edited from the post the file was created in or in the Media Library (where the file lives in HeyOrca).

From the post the design was created in or from the Media Library by clicking the three dots (...) on the image preview and then selecting Edit in Canva on the image.
The design will open in a new tab on your browser where you can make edits to the design.
When you’re done editing, click Return to HeyOrca to export the image again.
Back in HeyOrca, you’ll be prompted to choose your post file type. Select Export to HeyOrca to add the media to your post or Media Library.
Access existing Canva designs
Already have graphics created in Canva? You can access and use them directly in HeyOrca through the Canva integration.
Open the Canva integration from HerOrca either through a post or from the Media Library.
In the Canva window, click Projects from the left-hand menu.
Browse or search for the design you’d like to use.
Select your design to open it in Canva.
Make any edits if needed, then click Return to HeyOrca.
Export the design back to HeyOrca to add it to your post or save it to your Media Library.
Canva integration limitations
Here are a few things to note about the limitations of the Canva integration:
Only single images can be exported at this time.
Canva may charge your account twice for premium assets, because uploading existing designs will create a copy in HeyOrca. Creating copies or changing designs that have premium assets or elements in Canva will require you to pay for the assets again.
Canva will not save a design created in HeyOrca to your Canva design library. It can only upload whatever is created directly to the post. However, it will be saved within your HeyOrca Media Library and you can make edits to that design from here at anytime.
Some native Canva tools or functions may not be available within the integration. This is a limitation from the Canva API.
Some features of the Canva Integration are still within the Beta stages on Canva's website and are subject to change, and features may become available or removed at any time.
