Tagging pages and profiles helps you connect with partners, collaborators, brands, and community members directly in your posts. Because each social platform handles tagging differently, the setup and behaviour may vary by channel.
Tag others in your HeyOrca posts
Since each social platform has different API permissions and privacy restrictions, tagging works a little differently depending on where you’re publishing. Some platforms allow searchable account suggestions directly in HeyOrca, while others require manual handle entry or have limitations set by the social network itself.
Facebook tagging can work in a few different ways depending on the Page and Meta’s API permissions.
👀 FYI: Personal Facebook profiles cannot be tagged in HeyOrca due to privacy restrictions in Meta’s API.
There a few ways you can tag Pages on HeyOrca:
Option 1: Type the Facebook Page name
Type @ followed by the exact Facebook Page name. Example: @HeyOrca
If Facebook recognizes the Page, the tag will automatically populate once the post is published.
Option 2: Paste the Facebook Page URL
You can also paste a Facebook Page URL directly into the post editor.
Copy the Facebook Page URL
Open your Facebook post in HeyOrca
Type
@Paste the Page URL
HeyOrca will automatically convert the URL into a Facebook Page tag.
Example: @https://www.facebook.com/HeyOrca/ will automatically convert to:
@HeyOrca
👀 FYI: The Facebook Page must be public and able to be tagged through Meta’s API for the tag to work properly.
Option 3: Use hyphens between words
If the Page has multiple words in its name, you can type the name using hyphens between words to help Facebook find the correct Page. Example: @Walt-Disney-World
This only works for Facebook Pages with 2 or more words in the Page name.

Instagram tagging works differently because Meta’s API does not provide account suggestions while composing posts in third-party tools.
To tag an Instagram account:
Type
@Enter the Instagram handle exactly as it appears on Instagram
Example: @heyorca
The tag will not appear clickable inside HeyOrca while drafting the post. Know that as long as the handle is correct, the mention will become active once the post is published.
You can also tag users directly in the media for your Instagram posts including photos and Reels for using Direct Publishing. Learn how to tag your Instagram photos here.
TikTok
TikTok tagging works similarly to Instagram.
To tag a TikTok account:
Type
@Enter the TikTok username exactly as it appears on TikTok
Example: @heyorca
TikTok will not show profile suggestions while drafting the post, but the mention will become active after publishing if the username is correct.
You can tag LinkedIn Company Pages and some personal profiles directly in HeyOrca.
To tag a LinkedIn Page or profile:
Type
@Begin typing the Page or profile name
After typing 6 or more characters, a dropdown menu will appear
Select the correct Page or profile from the list
Using the exact LinkedIn Page name will help narrow the search results.
Use hyphens to narrow search results
If the Page or profile name contains multiple words, you can add hyphens between words to help filter the results.
Example: @dairy-queen
Limitations for tagging LinkedIn Personal Profiles
LinkedIn applies several restrictions to personal profile tagging through their API due to privacy and security.
You can only tag personal LinkedIn profiles when:
The post is being published from a LinkedIn Company Page
The person follows the LinkedIn Company Page
If someone is not appearing in the dropdown, possible reasons include:
Their LinkedIn privacy settings prevent mentions
They have disabled mentions on their profile
Their profile contains hidden names or alternate names
Their profile contains unsupported special characters
They do not follow the Company Page you are posting from
